Ford has just announced that it will be adding an EcoBoost engine to the truck lineup, and this is the first official news we’ve seen about it.
The new EcoBoost is an inline six-cylinder that produces 2,800 HP and 1,400 lb-ft of torque.
Ford has said that the EcoBoost will be available for a limited time on its F-150 pickup and F-250 truck.
The company hasn’t announced pricing yet, but it should be available by the end of the year.
Ford says that the engine is designed for the truck’s lower-body weight distribution, which helps with lower-speed cornering, while its higher-performance torque curve helps with handling and fuel economy.
Ford is aiming for a 0-to-60 mph acceleration time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph.
We’ve reached out to Ford for more information, and will update this article as we receive it.
