Florida lawmakers have passed a bill that allows gun owners to buy guns for people who don’t have a Florida license or aren’t licensed to sell them.
The bill passed the state Senate on Thursday, with both chambers now moving to the governor’s desk to sign it.
Florida has about 30,000 licensed gun owners.
According to the NRA, Florida has about 40,000 registered gun owners, but the vast majority of them are on the inactive list.
Under the bill, any person who buys a firearm in Florida from a Florida gun dealer or a licensed gun dealer must apply for a license from the Department of State Police.
If the gun owner has a license, the firearm can be legally sold to a person in Florida.
But if the gun is not registered with the state, the person can’t sell it to anyone.
