The Canadian women’s wrestling industry has its first big-name arrival to its Canadian territory, with the promotion announcing that it has signed a deal to bring former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) commentator Tanya Tucker to Canada.
The news, first reported by Canadian Wrestling News, comes on the heels of a successful promotional tour of the United States.
The Canadian Wrestling Expo (CWE), which will be held in Toronto on March 12-13, will be a showcase for the nation’s best talent, with events ranging from the “World of Wodka” tour to the “Funk of Canada” tour.
The announcement comes after Tucker announced in a series of tweets that she would be bringing her talents to the United Kingdom.
Tucker, who spent a year as a WWE commentator in WWE’s developmental division, was the first Canadian female wrestler to make it to the main roster of WWE in 2011.
She wrestled for WWE’s Women’s Champion Sasha Banks, WWE’s Becky Lynch and the tag team partners of Tommaso Ciampa and Alex Riley.
She left WWE in 2013 and returned to WWE as a commentator in 2017.
In 2017, she returned to the WWE Network, where she hosted a podcast on the network called “The Best Of WWE” where she discussed women’s professional wrestling.
Tuck also appeared on the podcast with former WWE Diva Paige, who also made the trip to Canada to promote her new book.
Tucked told the CBC in 2017 that she plans to return to WWE in the future.
She said in an interview that she’d love to do some more WWE shows in Canada, but it would depend on the type of show I would want to do.
The new Canadian tour will be the third for the company, which also has a deal with the WWE to host events at the National Wrestling Centre in Ottawa and the Ottawa Civic Auditorium.
The company also has other Canadian events planned for March.TUCK’s first show will take place at the Ottawa Forum, the main venue for the annual Ottawa Summer Classic.
The two-day event will feature eight matches and will be televised live by the WWE.
It will take a look back at the past year of Canadian wrestling with interviews with all the talent, as well as a video tribute to former WWE stars.
The Ottawa Wrestling Festival will be an extra-long event that includes a live performance by former WWE wrestler Lanny Poffo, as the show continues its coverage at the venue.
The “Wrestling on the Lawn” festival will feature six shows, which will take the focus away from the Summer Classic, which takes place at Lansdowne Park.
Tucks book tour will also take place in Canada.
She is expected to take part in a book signing event in Ottawa on March 17.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale in mid-April, and the tour includes stops in Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver.
