Best Buy is taking a hard look at the market.
The retail giant announced this week that it will start offering laptop warranties, which will cover up to $1,000 worth of upgrades.
The company said that it expects to offer the warranties to customers on a first-come, first-served basis starting in November.
This year, Best Buy will begin offering the warranty on the new MacBook Pro models starting at $2,199, the company said.
The company said it will also begin offering extended warranty on a new MacBook Air model starting at around $2.49, and MacBook Airs starting at about $3,299.
The new MacBooks will ship in November, and there will be a $1.99 rebate for eligible customers.
Best Buy said that the warranty will cover the cost of upgrades, the cost to replace damaged or lost hardware, and any lost warranty coverage.
“If you purchased your laptop at Best Buy, you will receive a warranty from Best Buy for up to one year,” the company explained in a statement.
