By Nick ManciniGeorgia Soccer Club will host its first-ever women’s tournament at its Georgia Tech campus in March.
The event will feature two teams, one of which will be the Georgia Tech FCS team.
The second team will be announced later this month.
The Georgia Tech Women’s Soccer Team has been the most successful team in the league, with a 20-2-2 record and a league-best 15-4-2 mark.
The team will begin the event by playing a home-and-home series against the No. 8 seed Charlotte Independence at 2 p.m.
EDT on Saturday, March 16.
The Independence will then travel to play a match against the Georgia Bulldogs, a 1-4 seed in the East division.
The first match of the two teams will be played in the second round of the tournament.
Georgia Tech will open the tournament with a 2-1 win over the Charlotte Independence on March 23.
The game featured some of the most intense soccer in the nation, with both teams making four saves in the first half.
Charlotte, however, is the better team on the field, scoring four goals in the opening half.
Georgia Tech has a 6-0 advantage on goals scored, while Charlotte has a 5-2 advantage on shots on goal.
The Independence will head back to Atlanta on March 25 to take on the No., 7 seed and No. 7 seed Georgia Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will play the Independence on the opening day of the season, April 7.
The teams will meet in the season opener on April 15.
The second game of the teams will take place on April 17.
The Bulldogs will travel to the Georgia Dome for the first time in the Georgia women’s soccer season.
Georgia’s women’s national team will open up its season in the fall of 2018.
Georgia is scheduled to open the 2018 season against the United States on Sept. 6 in Atlanta.
